Many houseplants are high maintenance, but luckily you don’t have to work hard to keep some of the most impressive looking plants. If you want to add plants to your entryway for decoration and a good first impression, there are excellent options that don’t require a green thumb. Here are some suggestions for impressive but adaptable houseplants to try in your entryway.

Areca Palm

Areca palms are perfect for an entryway with lots of light during the day. These majestic plants can grow up to 10 feet indoors when they have the proper conditions and care. Luckily, care requirements are simple as long as you have enough sunlight. Water when the soil feels dry and prune away browning leaves as needed.

Chinese Evergreen

Chinese evergreens, also called aglaonema, are a houseplant favorite because of their beautiful low-maintenance foliage. These plants come in an array of colors and leaf patterns and are easygoing with light. Bright indirect lighting is best but they will also live happily in lower light entryways. Try mixing different varieties for a full rainbow of colors.

Croton

There are few plants with more striking, colorful foliage than the croton. You will commonly find crotons sporting a mix of bright orange, red, yellow and green leaves, all with contrasting vein patterns and stripes. The more sunlight in your entryway, the better. While crotons do fine in lower light, they produce the most vibrant colors with high volumes of light.

Heartleaf Philodendron

If you want an easy yet beautiful climbing/tailing plant, the heartleaf philodendron may be perfect. As the name suggests, this plant has smooth heart-shaped leaves growing from vines that can reach 20-30 feet indoors. They are lovely when trailing out of a hanging planter, displayed on a console table or climbing a trellis in an entryway corner.

Monstera

Another favorite among houseplant enthusiasts, monstera are are as beautiful as they are simple to care for. The extremely popular monstera deliciosa is all over social media because of the dramatic presence it can make in a room with its huge fenestrated leaves. Another reason for their popularity is that they are low-maintenance.

To care for a monstera, only water when the soil feels dry and rotate it occasionally to encourage even growth. They love bright indirect light but can also adapt well to lower light, making them a versatile choice for your entryway.

For houseplants, the best choice always depends on the conditions of your home and the level of regular maintenance you want to commit to. Luckily, all these options make a dramatic statement to anyone entering your home without requiring an enormous amount of your time. Try any of these plants and enjoy how they can transform any room.
